This is my most recent furniture purchase, my beautiful pink velvet armchair!

I'd been looking for a pretty armchair for ages when I spotted this one. I wanted one for the lounge room, there was already a big L-shaped couch in there but I wanted a small armchair to make a bit of a circle. It needed to be small too, because of the unusual layout of my house it was going to be a tight squeeze... and then I came across this one! I found it at the jumble sale the church down the road holds every few weeks, it was being guarded by a little old lady who was not keen on letting it go. It had been her granddaughter's who had had it specially made, I didn't get the story of why she was practically giving it away though. Pity, because this little old lady was an absolute gem, albeit a rough one. She yelled at me not to sit on it, then when I protested that I had to check for comfort, she begrudgingly agreed. After about three seconds though, "alright, you know if it's comfortable by now". It really was hilarious, not offensive at all for some reason, she really was this tough character. I certainly didn't try to bargain the price down.
And for the lovely price of $25, it was all mine.
For some reason the material is quite hard to photograph. It comes across as lighter on the arms and seat, the true colour is that at the back of the chair. I need to practise my photograhpy skills. I'd really like to get a fancy camera, but let's focus on the sewing maching first.
Oh, and the chair is not actually pink velvet. But I didn't think that pink towelling would be as catchy a title.
