Potato Cam: Project Potato Update

Alright my peeps, the potatoes planted on the 8th of August for Project Potato are well on their way!

Here is one in a photo taken on the 22 September.

And the same one in a photo taken today, the 1 October.

They are really going well, I think there are around 3 plants, and from memory I planted 3 potatoes, so it's all very exciting. After I posted about the project I was a little worried that nothing would grow, as everything that I read pointed to the fact that you let the potatoes sprout first, then plant them. Maybe that just moves things along a little quicker??

Now we just have to figure out what to do with them. I know we have to pile up dirt around them, but I don't really know how to do that. I mean, pile it up where? Around the stem? How high? When? And why did I plant things all around the potatoes rendering it slightly impossible to pile up dirt?

I'm really basing my hopes on it all becoming clear as the plants grow.
