I haven't grown a carrot yet. Digger's are telling me that this month is the last in the subtropics to plant carrots until next February, so I thought I'd better get some more in. I'm trying to learn how to grow in cycles, so that once we've eaten all of one lot, the next one is well on its way. In the past I've planted something and then been surprised that once it's eaten it's all gone... what a rocket scientist.
These ones in the above photos are about halfway grown I think... I don't exactly remember when I put them in, but I do think I've put them in a bit close together. I did get excited because for once something in my garden is planted in rows, but yeah, squishy rows. I'm pretty sure you need to give a carrot some space to become a carrot.
Now those half grown carrots are all your regular orange carrots, so today I thought I'd give you all a little thrill and plant something a little more daring. On the back of this pack it promises that Dragon carrots sport a "beautiful reddish purple exterior with amazing contrasting yellow orange interior". So prepare to be amazed people.
