This Is How Hard I Work

Yep, I broke the shovel clean in half. Ha. I am feeling pretty tough right now.

So tell me... surely, but surely, I'd have to be kicking your butt in the working-hard-in-the-garden department right now?

Come on. Surely?

I don't want to turn this into a nasty competition but... You know when I dug out that hedge to make the potager? Well I broke the tyne off my stainless steel fork which I bought because I always bend the other ones. Sorry, I think I win.

....or do you wanna arm wrestle?

Hazel, I am so sorry, but the tine of a fork up against the shaft of a shovel?Oh Hazel... poor dear Hazel. Oh I think not.

And yes, I'll wrestle you for the jam!

Ali; If I didn't know you better, I'd say that MAYBE breaking the shovel was a deliberate act aimed at avoiding having to plant any more fruit trees...

I got a blister...does that count?

Old wood handle vs a stainless steel tine? The SS wins every time!

EM: I don't even have a blister to show for my efforts recently! You win that hands down ;-)

Ah, you all beat me...I spent the day at the beach and the only thing I've been kicking is sand.

Elaine, whose side are you on?

Suzanne, a blister certainly does count, although I'm sorry, you can't win with injury, you have to do damage to property. JCS, you are a book reader, and therefore by nature a delicate young lass. Possibly couldn't break a plastic fork :p

And Mark you are perhaps right, dwarf though they may be, I think I am running out of room!

EVERYTHING i do i have 6 children at my side(i'm sure to get the emtional vote for that) So I think I should win..i've broken 2 spades no biggie-- the real test of your awesomeness is did you cut down a piece of tree and reattach it as a handle just so you could continue on..hhmm aahhh yeah thats right didn't think so(excuse me while I run my lap of victory)

Ali I have broken too many tools to count... now only buy the fibreglass handles which (so far) have stood the test of my awesome strength.

FarmGirl67 you do get an emotional vote - but only if at least one of the children are younger than 2yo and like to 'help' by filling the hole back up.. or falling in it! Although my hat comes off for ingeneuity of making a new handle!

JCS, is that an obscure reference to I'm so tough that when I go to the beach I don't kick sand in other peoples faces... I kick it in my own? lol

Anyone who can grow plants and watch disaster strike their garden, whether it be pest, flood, child related etc, and not end up in tears and give up is pretty tough in my books!

Yeah, okay 6 children, children who fill up holes you have just dug, I hear you. But come on, people, I broke a solid piece of timber. I am up there with the karate kid!
