Happy Birthday you wee young thing! Hazel has funghi on the mind too - have you seen her latest lovely photo? Hope you have a lovely time over the entire long weekend.
Happy Birthday Ali! Best Wishes for a wonderful day. I hope you get lots of other lovely presents too (some plants, for instance?). Looking forward to seeing / reading how you get on with growing the mushrooms.
Happy happy happy birthday!! Make sure you pick those shrooms before the explode! Came home to brown dusty kitchen sink cupboards one day...spores everywhere!!
Just when I thought I was being wasteful with the Easter break, i discovered your blog and spent the afternoon reading it from start to finish - well, latest to earliest. I don't know how I hadn't found it earlier - I found it today via veggiegobbler's blog and I love it. Even better, it's great to follow the gardening ravings on another SE Qlder. I totally get your banana thing - I was like that too, after growing about 5 varieties from tissue culture (bought from the DPI) at our last place. We had many many bunches - they were definitely my babies! I'm also rubbish at growing egg plants and had what I thought was a stow away cucumber growing next to the front steps but only this morning found a melon on the vine. Looking forward to reading more in the future - and I love your photos.
Yes, I grew some as a child, and it was such a buzz! I much prefer Swiss brown to the white button mushrooms, so I can't wait for the spoils. I just prepped my kit with my 3 year old - blog post out shortly. It'll be good to compare results.
Oh I'm so glad you are going to do a blog post on them, I'm really not confident that mine will work. I am trying to be cool and humid for them - I'm not sure of success!
I'm Ali and I live in a wooden house with my two boys, our three chickens and Mrs Goggins. I throw myself rather cheerfully but a little haphazardly into life, attempting to grow lots of fruit and vegetables, baking cakes and renovating our house. My mum keeps telling me that I'll "get there one day".
I have lots of enthusiasm for lots of things, and am writing this blog to record my efforts to create a more self sufficient garden and not have to go to the supermarket anymore!

Happy Birthday Ali! (I got a box of worms for my birthday, in my opinion boxes of strange growing things make the best presents!)

Ooh! Which one did you get? I have a Swiss Brown one on order at my local nursery - I can't wait for it to arrive!

Belated happy birthday! Now that's a proper birthday present.
