Winter Wednesdays - The Future's So Bright...

Are we there yet?

I'm inside now, and lovely and snug and warm, but earlier on my toes were numb, my poor lips chapped, and I was cold, cold, cold. And the day - where have the days gone? I looked at the sky earlier on and thought, yes must start thinking about getting dinner on - only to look at the clock and realise that it was only 2.30 in the afternoon! 2.30 and getting dark! Oh it's getting harder and harder to wax lyrical about winter days...

I wouldn't have even been outside on such a cold windy day, except that Hazel is making me appreciate winter. So off I trotted into the garden this morning, dutifully trying to find something to appreciate. Luckily I didn't have to trot for long, and I pulled up to a halt in front of our lovely winter flowering Snowflake Bushes.

In my humble opinion, these snowflake bushes are a warm climate answer to snow laden trees. They are a real show stopper, a spectacular burst of colour in a stark landscape... quite marvelous, I could have taken photos of ours all day.

But then I got distracted trying to see if I could take a photo of the sun, just to see if I could.

So there you go, another Winter Wednesday. Now last week I did say there was something that I really and truly appreciated about winter, and there is, I am just trying to figure out how to photograph it.

Wish me luck, and sunglasses on for the next photo.
p.s. although I am trying to make Hazel pay for her sheer cheerfulness in the face of winter, for the purpose of full disclosure I must say that I would have been outside even if I didn't have to take winter photos.
If I stay inside I feel like I should be cleaning.

Ahhh, the sun, that bright shining things in the sky, we don't seem to be seeing a lot of it in the south. It comes out and then seems to disappear almost as soon as it does come out. I don't know how anything can grow. Perhaps that is why they are dormant in winter. I'm enjoying your blog, thank you.

Oh yes, numb toes are better than cleaning!

What beautiful photos!!! And it appears to be a wonderful day to be outdoors. It makes me smile to think You are having Winter and I am having Summer! :-) (I'm glad to be finished with Winter for awhile.)

OK, I see your point: if it's a choice between staying indoors cleaning, and being outdoors photographing plants, the photography wins every time!

What wonderful flowers to have in winter. They look very summery to me. They got lost and landed in June - and no wonder you are glad of them.

Hi Ali - gorgeous snaps of your snowflakes!
You are saying that you are having trouble linking to Hazel's blog? but you have already done that in your 2nd para.
As far as I'm aware, all you need to do when commenting on Hazel's blog is to cut and paste the path (browser tap at the top of page) to your post on your blog. Does that make sense? then if someone chooses to look at your blog they just copy that same pathway.
Also! you were asking about our fireplace? I think if you just google Maleny Hot Box you will get a phone no. at least. Yes it does throw a lot of heat, but our house is open plan with a high ceiling & exposed beams so a lot of the heat doesn't travel to b/roooms. It certainly heats the immediate area and lounge/living area. I would highly recommend them as it has proven to be a great asset.
sorry for the ramble!

Wendy I want to link in a different way and use the "create a link" button. But I can't figure out how to do it the way I want to!!! Can you see how below these comments Girl Gone Gardening has linked? I want to do that. I will just have to ask her how to do it methinks!

I have found the Maleny Hot Box, and found them, and am dragging some friends up there to check them out sometime very soon! Am so excited, but I was thinking that perhaps it would be better to get it done in summer... a better deal perhaps?

That's exciting Ali - I hope you get one! I guess anything out of season = a better deal.

Re linking - now I'm confused?!
