There is an ad posted on billboards all over town at the moment, which advises Australians on how to pick apples. It goes something along the lines of "Australians know how to pick an apple. They first look at this". "This" being the label.
I don't know why, there are so many things to get upset about in regards to food advertising taking the consumer for an idiot, but this ad really annoys me.
I have looked and I have looked and I just cannot find a sticker on mine.

Is that your special tropical apple Ali?
Yay! I love it, you made me laugh.
I need a 'like' button.
To get that label to grow properly, you have to dance naked at midnight at the full moon ;-) Ali, you do crack me up :-)
"They" are assuming all we do is read labels in supermarkets. That means if the label is wrong, so are we or label is missing we haven't a clue. Informing ourselves of the points of interest and difference between one variety and another is a great exercise. And for those of us who grow our own fruit, "they" do not even know we exist.
I thought you were talking an Apple...the computer, iphone, ipad type of apple!
I do like the idea of dancing naked at midnight on the full moon though. I will have to think about that if my apples ever recover from the frequent haircuts of the goat variety!
Hi Ali, just found your blog via Tchotchkes and have to say I am so inspired by your gardening efforts. I am a fellow Brizzy girl who also has a magical poinciana tree in the backyard, 2 small children, a queenslander I am very slowly renovating and a love of trees. My goal is to outwit, outsmart and outplay all the possums in my garden and grow something the rest of us get to eat. So nice to find you. melx
Ali, the label must be concealed underneath that fruit's fuzz!
you'll be picking them one day I'm sure!
Ha Ha...Ha!
No idiot consumer with you Ali - grow little apple grow. I'm sure this little beauty will taste a whole lot better than any ones with little stickers of them.
Don't laugh I had a job putting stickers on apples
