I Grew an Apple

Sort of.

How big must an apple be before you can call it an apple?
I ate it. It almost popped my eyeballs out of their sockets, but I grew it, and so I ate it.

I'll bet all sorts of problems would have been avoided if I had been the gardener of Eden.

I believe you are quite justified in calling it an apple Ali! I think it's great produce anything with all the humidty around. We tried several species of 'tropical' fruit trees with no success at all - so well done you - sour or not!! cheers Wendy

It looks very sweet, even if it didn't taste too sweet. I would feel proud if I was you :)

He is awesome! I used to love sour apples as a kid. The more face-sucking-in it was the better!

It wont be long and the tree will be making more than you can eat!

Aww! What type was that one Ali? Was it Golden Dorset?
I'm desperately trying to avoid picking mine too early, but I only have two, so not much room for error!

If it looks like an apple its an apple. There is nothing quite like under ripe fruit to make your face pucker.

One little step further towards that goal of self-sufficiency! Hopefully it is a sign of more good things to come in the future.
I have learned the hard way that apple trees don't do well unless they get plenty of water. I was sorely tempted to dig up my apple tree this year, but I have decided to try one more time...

Thanks for making me smile — I remember when we first started growing our own food, and concluded that we were doomed to starve...

How exciting! (Love your blog btw) I can totally feel your joy. I've been there with my first teeny tiny bite of something I've spent MONTHS waiting to grow.

I want to let you know that I have nominated you for the versatile bloggers award, but it won't let me give my blog as my profile, because apparently I don't own it, but you can see the blog post here

no idea whether you will be able to get this

G'Day Ms Mud Pie! Where are you? i am worried that the little apple had a spell cast by an evil stepmother/witch to poison you because you are so beautiful. Please tell me it isn't true and that you are just enjoying a holiday or something.

I'm trying to come to terms with the realisation that everything which is wrong with my garden is because I began with an espaliered apple so I can't plant things in front of the south facing wall. And the apples taste horrid. But it's the idea of the thing which entrances still . . .

Like the photo of the apple before it was cut a lot.
